Not sure how familiar you are with building things from source, but an updated build of CUPS could contain definitions for the thing.
The oldest driver I find anywhere is for Leo, though. Knowing hardware manufacturers, they put the thing out the week after Leopard came out and didn’t bother to support the large number of users still running El Tigre.
Hardware OEMs are, as I mentioned, low-brow cretins and I don’t usually have a lot of respect for them and the stupid decisions they make regarding drivers and support software.
